Cluing in to nature’s small beings is a beautiful form of healing. This water beetle (Dytiscus) was dropped by a bird onto a forest path near my home. After surviving its incredible fall, it tackled its way through giant strands of grass. To me, it seemed to dance. It made its way toward a muddy puddle, no doubt hoping for some tasty mosquito larvae. It had survived the bird, so now it would try its best to adjust to its new path. Noticing the little things fuels my passion for life. Photographing them helps me remember that it is the awe-inspiring little things that keep magic alive and my soul happy.
